# An Introduction to OPEN

<figure><img src="/files/AJVDr8wfZmdUDJUIqgE5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Welcome to OPEN, the home of onchain ticketing.

It's no secret that the ticketing industry is fundamentally broken. You don't have to look far to see the sizeable cracks forming, with artists and organisers raising their voice in objection against ticketing monopolies that have cornered the entire events vertical.

The largest monopolies announce record breaking profits, to the tune of [$8 billion per quarter in revenue](https://www.google.com/search?q=revenue+ticket+master+quarter\&oq=revenue+ticket+master+quarter\&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQLhhA0gEINTczN2owajGoAgCwAgA\&sourceid=chrome\&ie=UTF-8), weaponising the relationship between fans and artists to extract as much revenue as possible.

In an industry that's valued at an eye watering [$86 billion](https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/online-event-ticketing-market) with projections to grow to $100 billion annually over the next five years, there is a huge amount of value being extracted by centralised ticketing companies.

Here's where OPEN steps in.

We believe in a ticketing industry that puts artists and event organisers back in control of their ticketing, where fans and artists own their relationships and revenue and data flows to rightful parties.

Luckily, the blockchain is the perfect solution to the inherent problems mentioned above, by being able to programatically enforce ticket sales rules at the contract level, whilst democratising access, ownership and financing opportunities for all.

At OPEN, we've built state of the art onchain ticketing infrastructure that scales globally to serve millions of tickets around the world, accessibly onboarding millions of attendees onchain direct through a ticket.

We're on a mission to restore rightful control in the ticketing industry and disrupt the monopolies at play. Together we can use onchain technology to make a difference for all those in the events industry.&#x20;

### Onchain Tickets - A Scalable & Accessible Real World Asset

What's incredibly exciting about onchain tickets is their ability to be real world assets, stored as an inventory onchain by organisers and artists. This allows for composability across the onchain space, from being used as collateral in decentralised event financing, to being issued across primary and secondary marketplaces onchain with enforcable sales rules, to being used as lasting access passes into digital experiences.

There's no easier and more accessible real world asset that the whole family can own than onchain tickets.

# Infrastructure & Products

<figure><img src="/files/jxn5nqs5hqR9oIpw04NY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For the last eight years, OPEN has built the largest and most scalable onchain ticketing infrastructure that at peak capacity can feasibly issue [tens of millions of onchain tickets per day.](https://mirror.xyz/openticketing.eth/l3KG_YdSHO8am7BQN2SOH5i0BZfs1TsJfGVpV9QSq-c)

Our suite of infrastructure extends the lifecycle of a ticket, no longer being a single admission access tool, but an asset that can help organizers finance their events, help artists connect with fans post-event and be used as an everlasting access tool into digital experiences.

This is the magic of onchain ticketing, let's dive into how we make it happen.

### Onchain Ticket Issuance API

At the heart of our infrastructure is our onchain ticket issuance API, which allows any ticketing integrator using OPEN to issue onchain tickets frictionlessly whilst having full customisability over the data added to a ticket.

Onchain tickets can be customised with unique metadata, including event details, ticket information, unique NFT artwork, text based metadata and more.

Developers can dive into our rigorous API offering in our [technical documentation.](https://docs.onopen.xyz/)

### Behind the Scenes Embeddable Wallets

Along with issuing onchain tickets, our infrastructure can create attendees their very own onchain wallet which works behind the scenes to power the ticketing experience.

Our 'Embeddable' wallets allow us to onboard millions of attendees natively into onchain experiences each year and can be used to sign transactions at the tap of a button with zero complexity.

Imagine receiving a ticket and then being able to jump into post-event content with ease, such as token gated community channels for artists, exclusive merchandise or future ticket sales and even digital experiences.

### Full Suite Ticketing

Along with API tooling, we've built a full suite of ticketing products used each month to fill stadium sized music concerts around the world. This end to end suite, includes a mobile ticketing app, an event dashboard for creating and montioring event sales, ticket shops, anti-scalping mechanisms and a scanning app.

The full suite tooling allows event organizers to control their own secondary market, earning rightful revenue and knowing exactly who attends an event whether they bought on the primary or secondary market. No more external marketplaces or scalpers buying up tickets.

Event Organizers can either work directly with OPEN's ticketing integrators or become their own integrator and receive this product suite in their own branding and apps on Android and iOS.

The largest integrator of our full suite, is GUTS Tickets, which is one of the largest ticketeers in the Netherlands, here's a video showcasing the infrastructure at work for a [19000+ crowd at the Eindhoven Stadium.](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1i-4Axgvlb3fWRVGeMDqskRclPX2J9aP4/view?usp=sharing)

# OPEN Ticket Explorer

<figure><img src="/files/hMXaohEMMx4BOntKVCaC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The beauty of onchain ticketing data is the transparency and accountability it affords in allowing anyone around the world to see real-time tickets being issued. We do this through our Sub Graph in collaboration with The Graph - which powers our Ticket Explorer.

On the Ticket Explorer you can see top level statistics on the amount of onchain tickets issued through OPEN on a year, month and weekly basis.

Below you can see individual tickets being sold by OPEN ticketing integrators along with the various states that these tickets go through, such as being sold, re-sold, scanned and invalidated.

You can visit the explorer on [explore.onopen.xyz](https://explore.onopen.xyz/)

# OPEN Event Financing

<figure><img src="/files/gECX171AaiOKqlgnhGKT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

One of the primary reasons why ticketing monopolies have been able to control so much of the events vertical is their ability to help organizers and artists fund their events.

When an organizer puts on their own event, they have to pay a series of large deposits, months before they sell tickets to the general public, this causes a cash flow problem where many organizers simply cannot afford to take on the risk of paying so many of these deposits before they're able to earn revenue from selling tickets.

This is where centralized ticketing monopolies come into play, who front the money to event organizers in return for enforcing multi-year contracts that lock organizers into playing at the venue the ticketeer chooses, losing out on a significant percentage of ticket sales revenue and having little access to fan data.

It's not uncommon for an event organizer to lose 50-80% of the revenue from their ticket sales in return for event financing, which is why we believe there needs to be a better solution.

That's where decentralized event financing comes into play. Using OPEN, onchain tickets can be created and collateralized before being sold to the general public. DeFi investors can then participate stables to the Event's financing pool, which organizers can use to pay deposits for their event.

When tickets are sold to the general public, the first revenue made is returned to the financing pools along with any interest specificed by the event organizer when creating the pool.

This allows for global access to liquidity that's not enforced by a single centralised company, it also seperates ticket access rights from financing deals, ensuring artists and organizers stay in control of their event ticketing.

# OPN Fundamentals

<figure><img src="/files/zXZAIWlJfSSRaCq1QvOp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

At the heart of OPEN is the OPN token which fuels global tickets processed through the ecosystem. Every single ticket issued by integrators requires OPN which is topped up from the open market before tickets are sold.

The total and circulating supply of [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click) is 22,926,928,000.&#x20;

OPN is available multi-chain, across Ethereum, Base, Solana and Polygon.

# OPN Fuel Utilities

<figure><img src="/files/HhhExwlSzCxCiKJ8GdVd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Ticketing integrators that use OPEN’s ticketing infrastructure are required to top up [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click) from the open market to pay and fuel the tickets they sell for their events. Attendees don't need to know about crypto, they pay in their local FIAT currency & [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click) fuel flows behind the scenes - just like magic.

Ticketeers top up OPN either through an invoice handled by the OPEN team which is then topped up manually by us, or for crypto savvy integrators, OPN can be purchased and topped up directly - each integrator has their own wallet address which tracks OPN fuel topped up and used.

The base fee for each onchain ticket is $0.03 which flows to the DAO and stakers, additional revenue is accrued depending on the level of infrastructure the integrator users, with the maximum fees associated to those using our full suite of infrastructure, which typically comes down to a 0.X% accruing as fees (e.g 0.3% of a ticket's face value in OPN) for stakers, the DAO and ecosystem treasury.

When attendees scan their tickets, [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click) flows to the DAO, ecosystem treasury & token holders through our staking system. By staking [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click), you’ll receive real world yield with zero inflation, the more tickets sold, the more yield for stakers.

We believe in the power of onchain flywheels where any participant around the world, whether builder, organiser, big thinker or degen can participate and earn from tickets issued through OPEN. With the power to bring the $86 billion ticketing industry onchain, and issue millions of tickets around the world each year, [$OPN](https://twitter.com/search?q=%24OPN\&src=cashtag_click) is at the core of all activity.

You can view all activity through OPEN in real-time: [http://explore.onopen.xyz](https://t.co/yUC2PMue5O)

# Bridging OPN Between Chains

OPN is available multi-chain thanks to Wormhole, which factilitates cross-chain transfers of tokens. This means that you're able to bridge OPN natively across chain by using a Wormhole powered bridging solution.

To Bridge OPN between Ethereum and Polygon, we recommend you use [Portal Bridge.](https://portalbridge.com/advanced-tools/#/transfer?sourceChain=ethereum\&targetChain=solana)

To Bridge OPN to Polygon, we recommend you use the official [Polygon Bridge](https://portal.polygon.technology/bridge)

To Bridge OPN to Base, we recommend you use [Super Bridge.](https://superbridge.app/base)

Important: If you are wishing to bridge OPN between Solana, Polygon and Base then you will always need to bridge back to Ethereum before bridging to the other chain. Please do not use Wormhole to bridge from Solana to Base and so forth, always use Ethereum as the connecting chain.

### Guide on bridging OPN between Ethereum and Solana

To bridge OPN between Ethereum and Solana, begin by heading to Portal Bridge:

{% embed url="<https://portalbridge.com/advanced-tools/#/transfer?sourceChain=ethereum&targetChain=solana>" %}

**Step 1 - Select Source and Target chains**

Upon heading into Portal Bridge, select the chain that you are bridging your OPN from, the 'Source' chain and the chain in which you want to bring your OPN to, the 'Target' chain.

<figure><img src="/files/I5AAgnEEEm5TpYWaY5w5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Step 2 - Connect your wallet and find your OPN in the token list**

Connect your wallet to Portal and find your OPN in the list or paste the contract address of OPN on your source chain. For a reminder of contract addresses of OPN:

<details>

<summary>OPN Contract Addresses</summary>

OPN Contract Address Ethereum - 0xc28eb2250d1AE32c7E74CFb6d6b86afC9BEb6509

OPN Contract Address Solana - J1YnyKzmxBwFkPftvZexnHTm4Am7JnmWydhxtXdwEmMv

OPN Contract Address Polygon - 0x7844F79FC841E4F92d974C417031c76F8578c2D5

OPN Contract Address Base - 0x9A6d24c02eC35ad970287eE8296D4D6552a31DbE

</details>

<figure><img src="/files/uaxXwgbo115jFlfl4ceQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Then enter the amount of OPN you wish to bridge to your Target chain.

**Step 3 - Connect your wallet on the Target chain & submit your transactions**

If you're bridging to Solana (or wishing to choose another target wallet on EVM) then you'll need to connect your compatible wallet on the target chain.

Once connected, you'll then need to continue and sign transactions necessary to bridge your tokens.

After performing the initial transactions, you'll then need to revisit portal and claim your bridged OPN once it arrives on Solana which requires a further transaction. You'll need to pay a fee in the native token on the Target chain, for example bridging to Solana will require you to pay gas fees on Solana when receiving OPN.

<figure><img src="/files/ACLiBfweSz1Cn3Wm8IzD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Guide on bridging OPN to Base

For Base, you'll need to bridge OPN using an official Base bridge, such as [Super Bridge.](https://superbridge.app/base)

{% embed url="<https://superbridge.app/base>" %}

On Super Bridge you'll need to bridge OPN from Ethereum to Base. Start by connecting your wallet on Super Bridge and then choose how much OPN you wish to bridge. This process takes approximately 3 minutes.

You'll need to pay fees on Ethereum and should then receive OPN automatically on Base when the bridging is complete.

<figure><img src="/files/2LWauRkYFu6aR3oj901Y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# OPN Staking

<figure><img src="/files/Q1Xwd3W1oXW1WZpon35S" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Anytime a ticket is scanned at an event that's powered by OPEN, the OPN used to fuel the ticket then flows behind the scenes to the DAO, token stakers and ecosystem treasury.

This provides real yield for token stakers that's sourced from the OPN topped up by ticketing integrators.&#x20;

The more tickets sold and processed through OPEN, the more yield accrues for stakers.

Staking occurs in two week intervals, in which any OPN unlocked from tickets being scanned at ticketed events is built up and released to token stakers in the following two week yield period.

You can visit the token hub to see APY percentages for the current two week interval at [token.onopen.xyz](https://token.onopen.xyz) - OPN staking rewards are activated at the end of April.

# The Ticketing Revolution DAO

<figure><img src="/files/niOila1rNWxyDbGBBR4j" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The OPEN Ticketing Ecosystem has a goal of continuing to bring ticketing infrastructure and business processes onchain, through the Ticketing Revolution DAO.

Here DAO participants can seed ideas, discuss proposals and vote on matters that can both positively impact the OPEN Ticketing Ecosystem along with the global ticketing industry.

The DAO operates across Discourse and Discord, with plenty of ideas to chew upon for new participants.

The DAO is run by DAO Representatives who are elected to represent the DAO every 6 months. DAO Reps are able to enact small decisions that don't require wider DAO consensus, such as small grant applications and seed new votes to the community.

{% embed url="<https://discord.com/invite/onopen>" %}

{% embed url="<https://ticketingrevolution.discourse.group/>" %}

### DAO Warchest

The DAO has a war chest of approximately 2 Billion OPN which it can use to grow the DAO, bring in new business and incentivise the development of new infrastructure from community builders.

### DAO Builder Grants

In an effort to grow the suite of onchain ticketing infrastructure, the DAO has a builder grants program of up to 10k in individual grants to provide ecosystem builders looking to contribute infrastructure that can benefit OPEN and its integrators.

# Tipping & Swapping $OPN on Farcaster

Thanks to [Paybot & Swapbot](https://warpcast.com/paybot), you are now able to natively swap and tip the fuel for global ticketing, $OPN on Farcaster. To use these functionalities, follow the quick guidance below:

### Tipping:

Tipping works in two ways, you can either tip directly to a cast via a reply or directly to a person via their username or wallet.

**How to use tipping via paybot:**

Via replies, reply with: @paybot 100 $OPN (this will send directly to the user you are replying to)&#x20;

@paybot @username 100 $OPN (this will send directly to the person you tag)

### Swapping:

Swapping allows you to create a Frame natively in Farcaster in which someone can purchase $OPN. When you share a @swapbot frame, you earn 50% of trading fees from swaps that happen through your shared frame. On mobile, Warpcast only supports Coinbase wallet. On desktop, you can use any wallet.

**How to use swapbot:**

1. tag @swapbot
